Before creating your awesome super-cool business cards, take some time to evaluate how you are going about getting the job done. Besides that, try to grasp the basic elements of business cards and how you can apply them in a fashion that is presentable, professional, and eye-catching. Some people have made many mistakes on business cards that are pretty costly. Do not be one of them, read on and even print this out to keep a mini checklist with you. Do NOT be the loser that forgets his phone number, name, or URL on the business card.

Your name should be on your business cards. However, not every business card demands a personal name. This is true when you do not own the company or are part of a certain team. Even though this is true, having your name on the card suggests a more personal approach to the card you are giving. It wouldn’t feel nice if someone handed you card and the only thing written on it was ‘Customer Support’ and the number.

In terms of naming things, absolutely do not forget the name of your business or company. Some people get to attached to the logo that they simply forgo the name of their business. Try to balance out the logo with the name so that one doesn’t overpower the other.

Another element to include is a very short description of your business. On your business cards it should be very clear why someone should try to contact your business. This saves lots of time. Do not give a biography about your business but a clever tagline should suffice that incorporates elements of your business.

On your business cards make sure to include the location of your business. This also saves the hassle of the person calling you for your address (they might not even call and just look for another card that has an address). Even when some businesses are located online, owners are advised to provide an address to show that their location is tangible and not an online store. The same concept applies to business cards even if you have an online business. The legitimacy of your business card can actually depend on the place of business (and whether or not you provide an address).

Make sure to have your most important contact number on the business cards. Have your most reachable so that when an opportunity arises, you can jump on the phone call. Do not put a bunch of useless information that will just take up space.

In terms of online contact information make sure to have some sort of online address. Have a website URL and your email on your business card. Please use a professional email with your name or even birthday. Do not include your social emails, it will look very unprofessional.

In a world that is constantly changing, having good business cards will only get you so far but, having a great business cards with the aforementioned elements can get you even farther. Applying the elements can help you but missing them, will only hurt you.
